A constructive and optimistic preference to this cause alone can bring about morality-based education-preparing the students to adapt and conform to the situations they are in their day to day lives. Students mind has to be exposed to the realities of the time allowing them to react positively to the given circumstances. A true and holistic educational system looks forward to this reality with greater enthusiasm.
St. Ann’s College offers its members the academic as well as ethical varsity which we envision in every student. They are given a wider and broader exposure of life and its challenges by various co curricular activities enabling them to become more than mere bookworm.

As per the ancient Indian tradition, education means walking with God. The word education means removal of darkness. When we read them together, it means that if you walk along with God the shadow that permeates over our ‘self’ will be exterminated. Therefore, the motto of the College from darkness to light brings out true meaning of education.
Education, therefore, means to lead one to God, the everlasting light to enlighten the hearts and minds of the people. It’s a noble task. That may be the reason why Victor Hugo says, “He who opens a school door, closes a prison”. Education is not filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire, says W.B.Yeats. Fire removes impurities and remains pure itself.
St. Ann’s College provides a platform to let the spark of fire, that is, the thirst for knowledge be placed in the heart of every people we cater to.

The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Ann to which the Sisters belong is a Christian Religious Institution founded by the pious couple of Turin (Italy) Carlo Tancredi De Barolo and Guilia Falletti De Barolo in 1834. Active in the field of education throughout the world since its origin the Congregation conducts nearly 60 schools and over a dozen colleges in which thousands of young people, belonging to every social class, community and linguistic group are being educated through the medium of both English and Regional language.

St. Ann's College, Kokrajhar, Assam

The name Anne derives from the Hebrew, Hannah, meaning ‘Grace’. Saint Anne was born in Bethlehem and became the wife of Saint Joachim from Nazareth, in Galilee. They were from the royal House of David, and their lives were totally occupied in prayer and good works. The only thing in their life they were lacking in their twenty years of marriage - they were childless, and this was held as a bitter misfortune among the Jews. Ann and Joachim fasted and prayed to be delivered them from this misfortune. God heard their fervent prayers and thus, Mary was born. She was truly regarded as a child of God and with the birth of Mary, the elderly Anne began a new life.
